Hi,
I've installed latest Alfresco Labs 3 stable, and would like to use online editing for MS Office documents.
But I simply can't see this action in document actions (I only see offline edit).
My config : Windows XP SP3, IE 7.

Did I miss something ?

You need to make sure the SharePoint module is installed.

If you've signed-up for Content Community (free) there's a PDF with more information here. Page 25 onwards.

Thanks,
Mike

Ok, this works now.

Indeed, to make the "edit online" action visible, you have to activate the Sharepoint (vti-module.amp) module.
This module is bundled with Windows complete installer (*-Full-Setup.exe), but you still need to run the apply_amps.bat script after this installation.

Regarding the read-only problem, the installation manual states :
There is a known issue with Office 2003 and 2007 Office documents opening as read-only in Internet
Explorer for all versions before Vista SP1.
Please refer to the knowledge base article 870853 on the Microsoft website to enable the Online Editing
functionality.
The solution given by this article worked for me.

Thanks,
Denis

This "edit online" feature only works when accessing Share with IE?

Yes, because that's the only browser that natively supports loading Office documents with a WebDAV path intact.

Hm, that's a shame, lots of people using FF nowdays…

However, it would be nice if that is documented somewhere, lost some time trying to enable it in FF  Smiley Happy

It's a Firefox limitation, so you should raise an enhancement request over there I guess.

Yes, apologies for that - it was communicated to our Documentation Team, but seems to have been lost somewhere. I'll get them to update.

Thanks,
Mike

There is a supersmart FF plugin called "IE Tab". It opens configured pages using IE ActiveX in FF window.
It is just g´reat, try it out…https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419
