Signavio Modeler does not start / Problems with Demo Setup

Hello everybody,

with Activity 5.0 the Modeler does not start. I am a Windows user with Firefox.
The Modeler displays a white page with the Tab-Title 'Explore|Signavio' and thats it.
I started the Tomcat using the demo setup.

Activiti Explorer and Activiti Probe start correctly, but I am not able to login using 'Kermit' as it used to be. I get the error message 'The system was unable to log you in.'

Does anybody have an idea to help me?

Hi everybody,

with my new Activiti 5.1 installation I still had the same problem.
But I finally managed to solve it:

The activiti-modeler-5.1.war was not unpacked completely by the demo setup and many files were just missing. After I unpacked it manually into the webapps directory, it worked.

That's very strange, since the unpacking is done by just calling the ant 'unzip' action.
Do you happen to have a trace of running the bad demo setup?

I tried to reproduce it with tracing, but today it worked fine!
The unpacking of the activiti-modeler-5.1.war is done by Tomcat. I don't understand this either.

Let's blame cosmic radition on your hard disk … until we find out what really went wrong 😉

It MUST be that!
I am VERY experienced in deploying web applications with Tomcat, there can't be any other reason!

Hi all have the same Problem.
May be my description helps to solve it:

i use a mysql database,
on a ubuntu 10.10
with the activiti 5.1 version
After running ant demo.start the explorer.browser.start opens successive all the applications.
Also the modeler and its working.
But when i quit the browser and finish the ant script, the modeler is blank from now on.

Frauke can you please give a manual to your workaround ?

kind regards

1) Shutdown Tomcat

2) Find activiti-modeler.war.
It should be located it your Tomcat webapps directory, were the demo setup copied it to:
<Your Activiti Installation>\apps\apache-tomcat-6.0.29\webapps

3) Open the war file with WinZip (or any similar tool and) extract the content into the webapps\activiti-modeler directory of your Tomcat.

4) Confirm overwrite with 'yes to all' … or whatever

5) Restart Tomcat

thanks for the fast answer, but found something out.
I think its not the problem with the installation it has something to do with the url

if i use localhost its not working but when i use 127.0.0.1 its working fine.

also with manuel unpacked war arcive its not working with localhost.

Found out that also the activiti explorer has problems here.
it seems there are some problems with the localhost url. if i use the loopback or direct ip adress it works fine also on an external server.

btw. i'm using a mysql db and phpmyadmin to access the db. may be the localhost problem comes from the second webserver ?

May be, but in my installation it really was the unpacking problem!
I've never had any problems with 'localhost' in the URL.
