Hi all,
I am currently evaluating Alfresco Community Edition with the purpose of rolling out within my organization.
We are planning to have hierarchical structure of spaces setup in alfresco explorer with users having rights as per there department, role. In addition to this, we want to provide hierarchical view of spaces Share UI with functions like content uploading, discussions etc. that are provided in explorer as part of alfresco share UI. Additionally, user can use features like wikis, blogs, calendering etc.
However, on the first look it seems while spaces management is provided in alfresco explorer the same is not available in alfresco share out of the box. Pl. provide direction on how all these functions can be provided as part of share UI.
Regards,
Pulsar

If you'd like to use Share, you would get each Department create a Site and assign permissions to those Sites as applicable. Note you can now assign Groups to Sites, so this would be a good way to manage access.
Thanks,
Mike

If the sites are created for every department with appropriate access levels, will it be possible to show hierarchical view of these sites in share UI. Typically site hierarchy in my case would be Account->Project->Sub-Project/Module …..?

No, the Site Finder only knows how to show the flat structure at the moment. I suspect it would be quite an expensive processing task to try and arrange them in hierarchical order based on the group membership and associated hierarchy.
We might be able to add something like Site tagging - would that help?
Thanks,
Mike

Yes it would help if you can provide any further direction on using site tagging for this purpose.
Also as an alternative, will it be feasible to show spaces hierarchy in custom dashlet on share UI for logged-in user?

SIte tagging doesn't exist yet - I was asking if it would be useful in your case.
It would be feasible to develop a dashlet that showed spaces under a pre-defined space, yes. I suggest you start by looking at existing dashlets and how they work internally.
Thanks,
Mike

hi,
Regarding provision for "Site tagging", is their any plan to make it available on community edition?.
pl. let me know as it seems to be helpful for scenario (Hierarchical view).
Also is their any site which provides details about currently available dashlets.
