Share still cannot replace Explorer

On my last project I tried to use only Share client for configuration but for some tasks had to go back to Alfresco Explorer (v4.0.d). Couple of reasons why you'll need explorer:
1) When you create rule and you apply it to sub-folders, and then you want to override rules on specific sub-folder, it is not possible to disable inherited rules in Share.
2) It is not possible to export folder structure (as ACP) using Share.

One more observation: user groups created through Explorer are visible in Share only when you search for it. When you browse, Share lists only groups created through Share. On the other hand, there are some cool things such as SurfBug.

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback… we're aware that not all of the features from Explorer are available in Share - my understanding is that there is a backlog being worked through. I've sent an e-mail to the project management team with a link to this post. You could raise improvement issues at https://issues.alfresco.com which other Community members can vote on (the greater demand for feature increases the likelihood that it will be included in the next release).  The other option you always have is to roll-your own solutions to such problems until such features become available.

Regards,
Dave

Thanks Dave,

I raised improvement issues. Agree with you that there is always alternative to implement solution by myself and mostly I'm doing it but if we all want to improve the Share (and Alfresco in general) as a product I think that raising issues is the better way. At least for core features which are useful to all users. For other nice-to-have and interesting features there is community and sites such as addons and share-extras.

Anyway, it's nice to see constant improvements.

Regards,
Blaž
