Share file upload work with flash player v10 ?

Flash player version 10 was released yesterday.

It will break many flash based upload code libs including  YUI uploader. Looks like yahoo has a newer version that will work with both version 9 and 10 of the flash player but code needs to change to use it.

I haven't tried Share file upload with flash player v10. Share may already have the change, just thought I would warn just in case.

Hi Steve

I can confirm that the multi-file uploader in Share does not work with Flash 10, so we would not recommend it to be installed yet. The uploader will "fall back" to the HTML form, allowing one file at a time.

In order for us to upgrade to YUI 2.6.0 (from 2.5.2) we have to fix certain other breaking changes across the site (as do all other YUI sites). We don't currently have a target date for this upgrade, but I'd hope it would be sometime before the end of 2008.

Thanks,
Mike

What is the status of these changes? I can not seem to get it working with me under Linux/Firefox 3.0.5 with the following versions of flash. They all show a dialog box without a button to select files, except for one:
  • 9r41

  • 9r151

  • 9r152

  • 9r31, no dialog box. Just reports: Could not load html upload template

  • 9r124

  • 9r115

  • 10r15_3

  • 10r12_36
I am using build 1526.

I am using build 1526.
Label 3 Final (the one linked from the wiki homepage (and the one you have there, 1526) has the required YUI upgrade. We've seen some issues with Firefox 3 on OS X too, so I suspect it's also going to be similarly flaky with Linux. It's a shame Adobe don't put quite as much effort into non-Windows versions of Flash.

Anyway, Flash 10 *should* work. Make sure you've switched off any adblock / Flash blockers; AdBlock Plus is known to mess up Share due to it's invasive JavaScript injection and Flash blocking.

Well, disabling NoScript resulted in the upload system working.

I'll also check with my friend that wasn't able to see the upload button - using Mac OSX - and various browsers. But I have no details to share.

I will report back here if I can keep the upload system running while NoScript is running.

Thanks for the help.

Share was mostly developed on OS X - get your friend to try with Safari or, better yet, WebKit nightly.

Cheers,
Mike

I'm still going to get the information about the Mac user…. but I have a little bit of information about Linux/Firefox 3.0.5. It will work with NoScript enabled (and the share site in the white list). But only after the window has been resized. Odd I know, but might help in solving it.

Hi folks,
I just helped out a colleague here with the "FAILURE; Could not load html upload template" alert.
User is on WinXP, was running FF 3.0, and had Ad Blocker Plus Add-on installed and activated.

I asked her to disable ABP and, lo and behold, Upload screen showed up and functioned as it should.

Thanks.

Windows7

Adblock Plus off
NoScript uninstalled

Tested after a reboot.

Thanks
