Sending multiple file attachments to email space in 2.9B

Hallo,
we are building our alfresco server and trying the functionality of 2.9B.
Recently we have tried the "space email" functionality and it works fine. .. but we see the problem with sending multiple file attachments.

There is no way to make customers sending us files one by one and, moreover, with exact name of the file typed in the subject.

We has hoped this is going to be easy approach where "use of alfresco is going to by as easy as using email", but this is too strict for average customer (at least in our industry). The approach of creating a folder for each incoming  email seems to be more appropriate for our use case.

Or am I missing something and there is a possibility to set it up?

Best regards,

Daniel

Hello,

We also wanted to change the default incoming email behaviour. We developped a custom email Handler to save a mail with attachments as a composite document (i.e. a document holding other documents through a child association). It works fine, and we are also able to re-create HTML files embedding images that look exactly as the HTML rich mail.
Implementing a custom handler to create a folder per mail with attachments as documents may be quite easy.

Hallo rivarola,
thank you for the answer.

We are quite newbie in app developement. Trying hard to start up somehow…

Would you be so kind and share some links or other useful info regarding composite document and custom email Handler??

Thanx a lot.

Daniel

Unfortunately we found no technical documentation (except the config in the Wiki pages) and had to work at the implementation level for mail handlers. Composite documents are a special use of the meta-model we try to introduce in every Alfresco feature, in collaboration with Alfresco teams. We may (or may not) contribute this code to the community, that's not decided yet

Dear rivarola,
thank you for your reply..  I have found the info on wiki..
well we will try to do our best.. especially the concept of composite documents is pretty interesting for us - publishing house. I would love to find some more info regarding this issue…. especially some use case implementation would be great.

Anyway thank you and please inform on the forum what was your decision about contribution of the code..

Best regards,

Daniel
