send mail with IMAP protocol when task workflow is assigned

Hi all,
I would like to send mail to user when a task is assigned to. I follow the suggestion I found in this post http://forums1.man.alfresco.com/en/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=26166.
However this sample is referring to smtp protocol. I need to use IMAP protocol.
Anyone can help me to know how can modify the code? I tryed to search other post but without results.

You can't "send" with IMAP.   

You may be able to put a message into someone's Alfresco inbox but that's very different to "sending".
