Repository search function and tagging

Hello.  Can somebody help please?  My repository search function and tagging doesn't seem to work correctly.

When I type the document name in the search field, the document is not returned when I execute the search.  I am using Alfresco Community v4.0.0.

Document tagging isn't working properly as well.  For example, I tag a document and when I click on the tag, the document does not appear.  However, in the document properties it clearly shows that I had tagged the document.

I'm not sure why the search field and tagging isn't working properly for me.  Can somebody help please?

There is no such thing as Community Edition 4.0.0. All Community Edition releases have a letter designation, like 4.0.d.

Aside from that, I suspect you may be seeing the Solr delay. In Alfresco 4.0, Solr will be used by new installations when you install using the binary installer. There is a delay between the time you create content and the time it will be searchable. This affects both your search by file name and your search by tag. Even though you will see the tag listed in the left-hand pane, you will not find the documents associated with that tag until Solr has had time to catch up.

If you wait several minutes and still don't see either the file name search or the tag search work, you probably have a problem with your Solr configuration. One likely cause of that is an expiration of the SSL keys which you can find a lot about if you search the forum.

I have this screen shot of the Alfresco Community Version 4.0.0.  I click on the upper left and this screen drops in that shows V4.0.0.  Is this not the version my company is currently using?

I agree that is what is shown in the screenshot, but the problem (I'd call it a bug in that release) is that 4.0.0 doesn't unambiguously identify the release for the purposes of re-producing problems.

If you had admin rights you could look at the admin console and determine the exact release.

Another way to go is to point a CMIS client at it and look at the "repository info" that comes back because it typically includes a specific version number.

Neither of those are good options for non-admins or non-devs.

Anyway, sorry for being so pedantic!

Side note: I just noticed that in 4.2.e it appears to be impossible for an end-user to discern the current version because that dialog you found has been removed.

Ahh, the dialog is still there in Alfresco Explorer, so if you are able to log in to /alfresco instead of /share, you can click on the logo in the upper left-hand corner and it should take you to an About dialog. Near the top it should have the specific version string.
