Replication of Alfresco Repository from 3.4 to 4.2.c installations

Hello all,

for several clients we'd like to migrate part of an Alfresco repository (Company Home subfolder) to a new 4.2.c installation.
I thought I'd use the replication service, but it doesn't work. I've setup a Transfer Target (http://192.168.0.x:8080/alfresco/service/api/transfer)
and tried to run a replication job. I get this error:

02140155 Error executing transfer - 021400153 from repository id is missing

Well, onto the questions:
- is what I'm trying even possible?
- might there be a better way? I need all the documents including version history and metadata replicated.

Replication is not suitable for upgrade and deliberately does not work between different major versions.

Please read the documentation for upgrade.
