Removing 'edit/modification' from DocumentLibrary

Hi –

I'm wondering how I can restrict (globally) and or hide the any of the edit/modify actions associated with documents in my alfresco repository for share users. I would also like to remove from the 'Documents' navigation panel: "I'm Editing, Others are Editing, and Recently Modified". I've tried searching the web and the forums for documentation on this and I see how to create custom actions for files but I'm either not searching properly for what it is I want to do or it's not discussed in the forum (I'm betting on the first).

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

essentially I want to restrict the document manager to function more like the records management module in the sense that the users are not allowed the ability to edit the document (along with not being presented options that will elude to a function that is restricted). I would look at using the rm exclusively however I need the ability to create multiple sites with similar folder hierarchy and don't want to be restricted to one global records management site. I would also consider running multi-tenant alfresco except I need the users to be able to view all sites from a single login and creating different instances for different rm/sites would not be an option.

Perhaps i'll look and see if I can get away with one global view in RM but change the root for each users to include the relevant hierarchy. Will have to research this further, your input would be appreciated.

It sounds like you need to change the permissions in documentlist.get.config.xml - there are other posts on these forums, a wiki article [1] and my DevCon presentation from last year [2] may help.

Thanks Mike I'm going through the articles posted right now great stuff I love Alfresco! Do you by any chance happen to know when the "records management" module will be upgraded and if multi-site per alfresco instance deployments will be available?
