HI everbody
I've installed alfresco 3.2r2 on a virtual machine (with windows xp professional) called alfrescoxp and I succeed to map a network drive (say Z: ) as a local folder, using the path \\ALFRESCOXPA\Alfresco\myalfrescofolder, so I'm able to use CIFS.
The problem subsist when I had to connect to Z from a remote position; If I use \\alfrescoxp I'm able to view the shared docs, shared folders and shared printers, but not Z. I've tried to use \\alfrescoxp\ALFRESCOXPA\Alfresco\myalfrescofolder or \\alfrescoxp\Z but the system says that the server alfrescoxp exist but not the specified path. When I perform a right click on Z to share the drive, the option "share" doesn't exist (while for other drives like C: or for other folders the option "share" is present).

Where I'm making mistakes? What I have to do to connect to Z from a remote location?

Thanks to whom will answer to my question Smiley Very Happy

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem. Do you have a fix yet? I've tried everything and googled like i've never googled before. But nothing i try seems to allow me to access CIFS remotely.

One thing that i have learned though,is that it is NOT possible to map to a drive which is already mapped on another machine i.e. the Alfresco drive. So whatever the solution is, it will invove you disconnecting the map from the Alfresco server and trying to reconnect from another remote machine.

From this you would assume it would be fairly straightforward to remap a drive from a remote machine using approximately the same path originally used. But this doesn't work for me!

Any other input would be apreciated.

HI Daedalus
I've re-enabled CIFS without making changes on regedit and without disabling netbios over TCP, so now I'm able to map a network drive (I think that it is build by windows, otherwise I'm not able to map the drive), but I'm not still able to connect remotely.

sorry  Smiley Surprisedops:

Thanks for the reply

I'm verging on giving up myself…which is unlike me!

I found this patch but i'm not sure if its the fix we're looking for as it's a bit over my head to be honest, i'm a tech author not a developer unfortunately.

https://issues.alfresco.com/jira/browse/ALF-229

If you think this may be the answer can you please let me know. I don't even know where i would install the patch!!
