Recreating Sites Dropdown outside of the navigation.

I'm looking to have the Sites drop down be rendered in a different place than the main navigation.  (It'll still be in the navigation; but I need the drop down replicated somewhere else as well.)

How do I go about calling the module within the FTL to recreate the drop down?  I'm including this in a component I'm extending.

So I've muddled through this for the past week.

I've just ended up combining various webscripts to somewhat recreate the sites dropdown; but still have having problems creating the dropdown arrow right next to the text of sites.  (the JS currently creates 2 buttons; one with the word "Sites" one with just the arrow to dropdown.)
