Reassign people in ongoing review

Is there a way to reassign people in an ongoing review by a person outside of the review? I have a review process where if any of the reviewers is out of office have to reassigned to other people. The person doing this is like a manager of the group but is not part of the review.

We did it by going straight to activiti instead of through Alfresco's interface:

ProcessEngines.getDefaultProcessEngine().getTaskService().setAssignee(StringUtils.split(taskId, '$')[1], newActor)
