Read receipt

Hello everybody,

I am wondering whether a read receipt function is already build into alfresco.

I need to inform several users if and when external documents have been opened.

No i don't think we have this feature. We have a "rule" that can be applied to a Space to email users when documents are added etc. If you need a new feature, feel free to add it to JIRA:

We also have "poilicies" which can be attached to items in the repository.

We have a content hits sample (available from the nightly build or SVN) which has an example on a content read policy. It only counts how many times content has been read but you could adapt it to send an email.

What do you mean by "read receipt"?

I don't know if "read receipt" is the exact word to describe what I want…

What I want is that when I publish a document inside a space, an e-mail is sent to the subscribers of that space (I know this can be done with a rule). In that moment, I'm sure that the subscribers will know that there is a new document (or new version of a document), but I can't be sure that they have read it.

I want to be sure that the subscribers have downloaded/read that document. I suppose that can be known, because Alfresco knows (for registered users) which user access which document. That's what I call "read receipt", a list of users which have downloaded/read the document. Does Alfresco offer this functionality?
