Alfresco Document Archiving

Hi,
I would like to know about how document archiving can be done in Alfresco. My client needs to archive his documents on a yearly basis. As I am new to Alfresco I couldn't find a way to do that. Is that needs any coding or Alfresco supports it in built? Kindly provide some details regarding this.

Perhaps if you elaborated what you mean by "Archiving" then people may be able to help.

Are you interersted in RM functionaility, a simpe a long term off site backup, or something more exotic like XAM?

What I mean by archiving is that by the end of an year all the docs belonging to that year should be saved/archived to a particular area and while searching these archived files should not come in the search results unless specified. How this can be accomplished in Alfresco.

Simple and stupid approach  Add a property to each of your documents (e.g. Year) and search on the year.

You could move the content to another folder or set of folders if that helps.

If you care using Alfresco Enterprise you could also use policy driven storage.

And if the data needs to be maintained and eventually destroyed after a specific set of conditions then you could copy the content into an RM folder.
