Question: Does thumbnail previews work out of the box?

Question: Does thumbnail previews work out of the box for the latest release?
Example: If I upload a PDF, Word 2007 and a Text File. Would all of them have thumbnail imaged generated out of the box or do I have to buy separate components?

I've been comparing Alfresco to Sharepoints basic document management features but in the past Alfresco would only show PDF thumbnail previews. (Though I admit I didn't sit down and read the full manual)

If I have to buy separate components where do I get them from? I plan to use the Alfresco Share (latest release) on Windows Server 2003.

You won't have to buy anything, but you may need to install extra components. You'll need OpenOffice for Word, ImageMagick for thumbnails and pdf2swf for Flash previews.

Please see docs.alfresco.com for details.

Thanks,
Mike

One last quick question, what about the Custom Form Templates. I see that you can do it in the Enterprise edition but what about the Community edition?

Yes, all Forms functionality is available in Community.

Thanks,
