Query External Database Within Webscript

Hi all! … I'm using Alfresco Community 3.2r2 under Linux…

I'm trying to find a way to query an external database from a webscript… I need to get some values to include in a new site component…
Can someone point me in the right direction… Where i can find an example of this?!? …

You can create web scripts that are Java backed: http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Java-backed_Web_Scripts_Samples. Instead of a Javascript file you use a Java Class. You can connect to your database from there.
