Hi!
I've got an Alfresco server running on my pc on localhost:8080. Is it possible to publish a document, so that anyone on the internet can access this file? The idea is to administrate documents on the intranet and when they are published, to make them available on a public homepage.
Thanks!
Michael

They are several ways you can do this. You can expose a Alfresco folder as a shared network drive using the CIFS interface - then use a rule/workflow to copy/move the document to the shared folder as the "publish" mechanism - most webservers (such as TomCat) can access a shared network drive and expose it as a web location. You could also use the Guest access features to either expose URLs to documents directly or let users access the Guest space and again use rules/workflow to copy/move the documents into the Guest space to publish. I'm sure they are several other creative solutions as well
We will be adding true Web Content Management features to Alfresco in a later release.
Thanks,
Kevin

This sounds very good. Unfortunately one of the major disadvantages of Alfresco is the insufficient documentation. There is no manual that explains how to use CIFS and the wiki article only describes CIFS very generally.
Lots of other CMS also provide similiar functionality as Alfresco but when it come to the real goodies like CIFS capabilities you are left alone. It would be very helpful to have an installation and configuration guide.
Kind regards,
Michael

Hi Guys,
I have alfresco up and running on WIN2003 R2, on http://<server>:8088/alfresco (port 8080 already used).
How do I connect via the internet? The server is on a WAN connected to an ADSL router on a dynamic IP. Now I know how to download ip.com to track the ip to the router, and I know how to forward to the <server> but am not sure how to forward to the port 8088 on the <server>.
Thanks in advance,
Bradley
