Problems setting up 3.4a deployment target

Hi,

I've been trying to set up a deployment target for 3.4a and am getting a weird error message. The installation of the deployment client was very easy, a definite improvement over previous versions, but when I try to deploy to this target via the Alfresco Explorer interface I get the following message:

Some information about my environment:
  • The Alfresco repo is running on my Mac laptop (port 8080) and the deployment client is running on port 44100 inside a VirtualBox CentOS 5.5 VM hosted on the same laptop.

  • I've disabled all firewalls on the Mac and the VM.
I can reach 127.0.0.1:44100 from inside my VM:

The exception appears in the catalina.out file of the Alfresco tomcat instance, but nothing at all appears in the logs of the deployment target.

Which address has the deployment server bound to? 192.168.56.101 or 127.0.0.1 or 0.0.0.0 ?

I haven't specifically configured an IP address, I didn't know that was possible and there's nothing in my deployment.properties related to IP addresses. Could this be my issue?

I don't yet know about the "new installer" :mrgreen:

However in the "old" world you needed to add the following to the command line in deploy_start.bat.

-Djava.rmi.server.hostname=x.x.x.x

In deploy_start.sh, I changed the below line as per the following patch:
