Hello,

I've a problem when i try to install Alfresco Community (alfresco-community-4.0.e-installer-linux-x64.bin ).

The serveur is a dedicated server Centos6 and Plesk panel.

The installation of Alfresco stops after asking Tomcat configuration (port).

I've tried to change port (8080 to 9090; 8005 to 8105 and 8009 to 8109) but i've always the same Warning :
Warning: Unable to bind to the given port number. Please select another one.
Press [Enter] to continue :

I've tried some tutorials to install Alfresco but I don't find solution that works for me.

Can you help me please?

Thank you very much

Hi,
these ports are "privileged ports" in linux, you need the necessary permissions.
cheers, jan

The problem came from port 8443.

It is already used by PLESK PANEL. So I changed the Tomcat https port 9443.

I continue the installation.

Thanks

Have another problem during the installation.

The installation stop at 50% and i've this error :

Erreur: Une erreur s'est produite.
initdb.bin: encoding mismatch
The encoding you selected (UTF8) and the encoding that the
selected locale uses (LATIN1) do not match.  This would lead to
misbehavior in various character string processing functions.
Rerun initdb.bin and either do not specify an encoding explicitly,
or choose a matching combination.

How i can resolve this problem?

Thank you

Seems like problem with the encoding of your Database.
Are you using the embedded database?
It is conflicting the the encoding of your db with the local language set in the installation.

Go for external db
during  setup select the custom setup and select the db created by you.
In that db during creation remove the utf-8 encoding from the db creation script

I've installed PostgreSQL.

But when i install Alfresco, tables and data are not created in the PostgreSQL database alfresco.

Is it possible to create the database structure after Alfresco installation ? Or i've to re install alfresco?

How i can try if the database connection parameters that i put during the installation of alfresco are good?

Thank you for your help.

I was able to work around this issue by updating the system locale prior to running the installer.

On ubuntu 10.04 this was accomplished by:-
sudo update-locale en_US.UTF8
