Problem in category management

HiAll,
       I am facing problem with category management.I am entering in to webclient thru "admin".When i navigate to Adminstration console->category management i am getting an error"A system error happened during the operation: Index has no root node. Check that the correct index locations are being used."from there i cannot able to create a category.
Can any one help me out.

Hi

This is a configuration issue.

You need to check the configuration for the location of content and indexes. You are not finding this information correctly. Your database and content/indexes are not consistent.

The information is in the installation guide and covered on several forum threads.
