Problem converting Word doc to PDF with rules

I am having a problem creating PDF files from Word documents. I followed the tutorial and created the simple workflow instructions. I added a rule that would create a pdf from a word doc but it doesn't seem to work. I created another rule to create a plain text doc and that works fine. Is there something that I am missing? Is there a manual to help out on this?
Thanks

Hi,

Of the five posts, I would say that this is the correct forum for the question.  Third time lucky.

Do you have successful connections to the OpenOffice server at startup?
Did you follow the README instructions in the download bundle on starting OpenOffice?
Have you read the Wiki document on starting OpenOffice?

Regards

I didn't know which one to post in for such a question Smiley Happy
Let me check with the other admin who installed to make sure he has open office running correctly. Thanks again and sorry for the duplicates.

there seems to be a problem with some OO versions. Take a look at the end of this threat: http://forums.alfresco.com/viewtopic.php?p=4994#4994

Alfresco appliance http://www.vmware.com/vmtn/appliances/directory/325

Alfresco 1.2.1, MySQL 4.1.12, Java JDK 1.5.0_06 , Apache Tomcat 5.5.12, OpenOffice 2.0.0

and I noticed on the demo site that it also can't convert plain text files to PDF.
same error as mine.

thnx in advance.

Hi,

Have you tried the 1.4 for this functionality?

well, no. I'm kinda stuck on using this version since it's an appliance and I only need to use it as a 'proof of concept' for now.

I believe text to PDF conversion should be a basic feature (out of the box)….And why also on the main demo site? (http://demo.alfresco.com)

Thanks for the reply derek. Hoping for the next one soon. Smiley Happy
