Preview Website in sandbox

hi ,

i m new to alfreco, i have created a web page name called mysite with the help of alfresco Studio, now i want to deploy my web page.. For this i did the following steps..

1. browse the alfresco url http://203.193.158.170:8080/alfresco/faces/jsp/dialog/container.jsp
2. select company home and select web project mysite
3. select the sandbox and click preview website
this will browse the url as http://admin.mysite.www--sandbox.127-0-0-1.ip.alfrescodemo.net:8180/
and show the the error page as
cannot display the web page

Anyone help me solve this..?

U need to have the virtualisation server running in order to preview the website.Run the virtual_start.sh script & try it..Thanks..

Hi,

The out of the box preview works only if you have alfresco running on your local machine.
If you want to have the preview running on a remote machine you can get it to work in 2 ways:
- Simplest, modify your host file with admin.mysite.www–sandbox.127-0-0-1.ip.alfrescodemo.net pointing to the remote machine.
- Or modify $VIRTUAL_TOMCAT/conf/alfresco-virtserver.properties and set the value alfresco.virtserver.domain to a proper domain that points to that server. Please note that you need a wildcard for the subdomains to point to that server.

If you are facing this issue on windows then…

If you have already made entries in your host file then on windows you need to stop proxy if you are using one.
Else hosts file on windows would never be read…

Hi,

Could you please tel me in detail. when i hit the perview website in sandbox it showing the same error page with "page cannot be displayed"

entry in host file as folows
127.0.0.1   emeraldhealthservices.www–sandbox.127-0-0-1.ip.alfrescodemo.net

and i have started the virtual tomcat. still no use..

Please help me to "preview the website"

The hosts file needs to point to the server Alfresco is running on. Your configuration shows that it's configured to point to your local machine. I think you probably need:

203.193.158.170   emeraldhealthservices.www–sandbox.127-0-0-1.ip.alfrescodemo.net

I'm assuming that your virtual server is running on 203.193.158.170, which your original post seemed to suggest. Alternatively, you could manually change the 127-0-0-1 part of the URL in your browser to 203-193-158-170 after it errors.

Changing the alfresco-virtserver.properties configuration on the server (as mentioned in a previous reply) is the real fix however.

Thanks for your reply.

But am running this virtual tomcat in the same machine which alfresco  is running..
So i gave the entry in host as follows

alfresco.virtserver.domain=192-168-17-33.ip.alfrescodemo.net

but still am getting the same error page. The error message "The webpage cannot be found"

Your original post implied that the IP address that you were accessing Alfresco on as 203.193.158.170, which is why I assumed the virtual server was there.

Depending on your firewall settings, you may not be able to resolve the URL properly if the DNS lookup is being blocked.

I assume then that the virtual server is running on 192-168-17-33

What happens if you ping 192-168-17-33.ip.alfrescodemo.net from your client? Does the hostname resolve to 192.168.17.33?

What actual error do you get when trying to browse the virtual server? Is it a 404 error (page not found), or does it fail to find the server?

What URL is given when you click on preview in Alfresco now? It should be http://admin.mysite.www--sandbox.192-168-17-33.ip.alfrescodemo.net:8180/

What do you have in your /etc/hosts file?

When i hit the link "website preview"  its giving the following url

And my host file oncludes following
