1) I just went through the jira issues a first time. I think we should call the next release of Oct 1st, beta 2 instead of a release candidate. Then in early october we can decide if we do a release candidate around 15 October and keep the GA release on Nov 1st or if we postpone the GA release with a month.
2) I want to clean up old branches. Which branches are still active? Please repond here or your branch might be cleaned.
3) Jira freeze for beta 2 will be set for September 10th. Code freeze will be set on September 24th. (@see also the Activiti calendar http://docs.codehaus.org/display/ACT/Calendar )
