I am running 2.9 Community Edition and have just imported an MPEG-4 file. When I click on the "i"-button which is present in the Space view the floating window with some properties appear but also my QuickTime Player opens and starts downloading the MPEG-4 file.

Why is this?

Because QuickTime is the default player on your system for that filetype.

Thanks for  the answer. I just saw  that the behaviour is different on my Mac Pro and my PowerBook. On the Mac Pro I get the floating window with the film embeded using QT Player Web Plugin in a very nice way. However, on my PowerBook that part of the floating window is white (blank) and instead it fires up the QT Player application.

I will try to find out why there is different behaviour…

However, being able to watch the film in the floating window is so elegant Smiley Happy

Because QuickTime is the default player on your system for that filetype.
