Hi

I installed the Office Add-in in an environement with Windows XP and Office 2003.
If I want to interact with Alfresco over the Office Add-In , it is just not possible.
I am able to open the Add-In, enter all server and login information, but then I can not click any tab, the Add-in is like "frozen".
Any idea how to get this working ?

Many thanks in advance for your answers.

Best regards Thomas

Hi there,
as a quick workaround, you could move your spaces into a share doclib Space. This way, you can access alfresco via the Microsoft Sharepoint protocol and do not need the plugins.

Hi

Thanks for the answer. I have CIFS working and can save as to this share.
For your solution, I need to have MS Sharepoint installed, I guess ? Or is there another way to use it ?

Could the "frozen" Add-In be a security issue ?

Thanks Thomas

No, No, Noooooooo

SCNR
Since the EU sentenced Microsoft to publish its APIs, Alfresco implemented the sharepoint protocoll .. now almost everything, you can do with office2003/2007 with regard to a sharepoint site, you can do with alfresco share doclibs as well - maybe even with alfresco explorer shares, Im not positive.

Try to navigate to the CIFS share with Office and simply open it. Then see, what happens in the task list (STRG+F1)

Could you state a little more about your client environment please? Are you using IE6, 7 or 8? Are you able to click on anything in the add-in window? Do you have any security policies (or similar) that might prevent JavaScript running for example?

Thanks,
Mike

Hi

Thanks for answering, it is IE8. I can click on the tabs, but the window does not change. This behaviour is the same for all the tabs.
I am not aware of any security restrictions. Could you give me a hint on what to check related to security ?

Thanks Thomas

I suspect it's just the fact that it's IE8. We may need to update the add-in code if Microsoft have introduced a regression.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi

Thanks for your help. Can you specify when this will be available ? Is there any timeline ?

Many thanks Thomas

I tested on a clean WinXP SP2 with IE8 yesterday and the add-ins worked as expected.

Note there seems to be a current issue then the Regional Settings aren't set to an English-language variant, but you wouldn't have seen the tabbed UI at all in that case.

I'll be looking into that issue today, but if I can't reproduce the "non-responsive" problem here on IE8 I'm not sure I've got much to work on.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi

Thanks for your support in advance. Changed the regional settings to english, but as you mentioned, no success.
I remarked, I am able to switch between the tabs for "Document Tags" and "Version History" in the second section of the add in. Still not able to switch between the tabs in the top of the add-in.

I am using Windows XP SP3 and IE 8.0.6001.18702CO
