new develop using Alfresco

Hi all,

I´m very, very new in Alfresco, and I have some "conceptual" doubts… :?:

I understand that Alf is a content manager, and I want to develop a portal with a content manager component. This component must be Alfresco.

I have been reading about the pieces of Alfresco puzzle, but I´m confused. I don´t know how to create the project.
Should I use web studio? I find it very poor to create a web portal…

Which options can I manage?

I only need a little clue to start… A little explanation about how Alfresco SDK, Alfresco Surf and Alfresco Web studio are put to work together….

I guess it depends on what kinds of features your "portal" is going to have. Are you building a user-centric community? Lots of personalization? Mostly dynamic or mostly static content?

Another factor is how many different (and which) technologies are you willing to leverage for the solution. If you are trying to build an all-Alfresco solution, your only realistic options are:
- Web Studio
- Share
- Something custom with Surf.

If you want to use Alfresco as the content repository but are open to other things on the front-end, then you can use whatever you want. Liferay is a common choice. Drupal can be a fit. Or something more custom with your favorite framework du jour. There really is no limit here and nothing is the one right answer for everyone.

I would start by thinking about the scenarios you need to address, and the type of people who are executing those scenarios. Then figure out the kinds of functionality that drives and which system should be responsible for what. Hopefully that will lead you to the answer of which components you need to assemble to get you the best fit for your portal.
