New Collaboration Features

Alfresco Team,

We just wanted to say that the new collaboration features (like Project Spaces in version 2.9B) are exactly what we have been looking for.  In general, our use of the product is essentially as an alternative to MS Sharepoint as a collaboration platform.

In terms of next steps, we'd really be interested in understanding the following once you can communicate it:

- will a workable wiki be included as a Project Space feature?
- will the Calendar be iCal compliant at some point?
- will Project Spaces eventually be added to the Enterprise version?

We know that these features are somewhat experimental right now but hope that the product keeps moving in this direction.

Thanks.

Thanks for the comments. We hope to bring you even more Sharepoint-like features soon - keep watching…

To answer your questions. We are undecided on the Wiki front yet, obviously using an existing well known and already developed wiki is easier for us, but harder work for you to setup etc.
The Calendar outputs iCal objects that represent the events in a folder below the space that contains the calendar. So if you use an FTP client, WebDav or CIFS etc. to view that folder then you will see the iCal objects.
Yes in the 3.0E timeframe all code from 2.9 will move up.

On the wiki front, good integration between the wiki page and the Alfresco repository would be nice, so you could do things like embed a list of Alfresco documents (results of a dynamic search, or a folder structure) into the middle of a wiki page using some simple wiki syntax.
