Need to customize the ALfresco default URL

hi,
i am developing an internal POC….. we need to hide and customize the default Alfresco URL: http://localhost:8080/alfresco/ into a custom URL.
similarly we need to customize other Landing page URLs…..

The standard way to accomplish this is by using Apache web server and some rewrite rules.
