I would suggest that you start with the book Profressional Alfresco,http://www.alfresco.com/community/resources/books/professional-alfresco/index.jsp which you can purchase from Amazon. There are also a lot of resources on the wiki, http://wiki.alfresco.com and in the Content Community http://share.alfresco.com.

We are planning our first Developer Conference in the fall, http://www.facebook.com/alfdevcon, we will be having a condensed, pre-event training session that should help you get the most from the conference.
