If any of you who are using Alfresco (especially Alfresco Community) are using it to support Accounting, would you be willing to show my CFO and me how you are taking advantage of it? We are starting with the community version before committing funds to it. But of course that means no official support. So, my CFO is struggling to imagine what's possible. I have plans I can see in my head, but he can't see in my head.
If you'd be interested in showing off your results, please email me at "drew DOTT mills ATT altour DOTT com". Or use the forum Private Message tool.
Thank you Patil. However, I was not looking for consultant as we are not willing to commit to spending money until we've seen Alfresco's value. Our first implementation will be Alfresco Community. Therefore I am wanting to hear about end-user experiences. If anyone can offer any, particularly surrounding Accounting, I would very much appreciate it. An informal demo of your implementation would be so helpful for our CFO.
I think the easiest way to get to know Alfresco is to sign up for Alfresco in the cloud. It is the same code base as other Alfresco products. You can sign up for a free account here: http://www.alfresco.com/products/cloud
It does not have site collaboration features such as the wiki, data lists, forums, etc. And of course an on-premise installation will be customized to your specific needs. But it gives you a flavor of what Alfresco can offer to your organization.
If you are building your business around a content management tool, then I highly recommend you get help from Alfresco or one of our partners early in the process rather than waiting until after you have spent a lot of time on a proof-of-concept implementation. It will help you avoid many common problems with content management in general and Alfresco in particular. I expect you can get help with your evaluation without needing to spend any money.
I have been trialling Alfresco in the Cloud for my accounting practice. The intention is to be able to replace our aging on-premises document storage with the cloud, allowing sharing of files with clients.
