Hello,
I am using alfersco community 4
I planned to you use the multi-user features of MS Office 2007 and 2010.
So, when a document is being edited by a user, other users trying to edit the same document have the option :-
1.open a read only copy
2.create a local copy and merge your changes later
3.receive notification when the original copy is available
Here is the scenario :
- user1 opens a document and edits it
- user2 opens the same document
- user2 chooses the option"Create a local copy and merge your changes later", and edits it
-User2 doesnot save the document till user 1 open the document
- when clicking on the save button, user2 selects the option to merge its changes
- user2 cannot save the merged document (document incorrectly stays in read-only)
if user1 save & close the document eariler than user2. Then user2 can be able to save the document.
Any help appreciated.
Regards,
Prasanta

First two features are already available. Even one user is editing a document you can download and edit it in your local and merge the changes once it is available for edit. The only thing missing is email. I think there is also a rule you can configure on space for that.

Dear mitpatoliya
It means more than one user can not edit a document online simultaneously at the same time. For editing one user waiting for the document available for editing(online). This options are available in file servers also so there is no difference between them.

Unlikely in the short and medium term. The googledocs integration allows you to to edit a doc at the same time.

While the document is locked for editing by user1, user2 can Download the document and then make changes to it. How can changes be merged after that?
