MS Office add-in and Office 2007

Hi,

I'm trying to use the Alfresco MS Office add-in with Alfresco 3.2.
The desktop environment includes Windows XP and MS Office 2007.
According to the Alfresco MS Office Wiki page the add-in should be compatible with MS Office 2007
but after installing it I don't see any sign of the add-in being available.
MS Office has ".NET Programmability Support" installed.

Is anyone succesfully using the add-in with MS Office 2007?
Were any special tricks required to get it working?

It appears that the MS Office add-in is not really part of the Alfresco roadmap, is it?

Since Microsoft released their Sharepoint protocol and Alfresco now supports that interface natively, I can't see much further development time being allocated to the Office add-ins.

They do work with Office 2007 however. Make sure ALL instances of Word have shutdown when installing - that includes closing Outlook if you use Word for composing and reading e-mails.

Thanks,
Mike

Thanks for shedding some light on the future of the Office add-in and Sharepoint protocol support, Mike.
I re-installed the add-in and during the second installation the setup program installed the Visual Studio 2005 Tools for Office (second edition runtime setup). After, that the add-in started working. There was a weird error message on the first startup though:

m_DefaultTemplate
wcservice/office/
OK

There's still CIFS, WebDAV and Sharepoint protocol support that can be used for MS Office integration.
Will CIFS and WebDAV be fully supported in the future?

Please see this post for information about the debug pop-up: http://forums.alfresco.com/en/viewtopic.php?p=80131#p80131

CIFS and WebDAV will always be natively supported by the Repository.

Thanks,
Mike

As I travel through the forum I found that Alfresco developers are now interested in Share Point connector for Alfresco and left the Office Add-in as it is.

Does the Office add-in can be replaced with SP without any functionality deficency? I mean, can I for example (through SharePoint, from Office 2007) create new space, start new workflow, fill the meta-data of object, add categories, search for documents, etc?

Could anyone point what is the exact functionality of Alfresco SharePoint implementation vs Office Add-in?

Thanks in advance.
