Is the Activiti Modeler open source as well? I understand it's built on the open source component of Signavio's modeler, but having looked around I can't seem to find it's source code.
There is much improvements needed to make it more practical.
thanks,

It's the same. The Signavio Modeler is the Activiti Modeler.
The link you refer to is for the other Activiti components.
Best regards,

so, stupid question: what's the difference?
this is the designer: http://bpmn20inaction.blogspot.com/2011/07/activiti-eclipse-designer-570-release.html
but the modeler is about what? i found this link: http://www.activiti.org/components.html and seems that the modeler is to model BPMN, which is the same as the designer.
or did i miss something?

Read the first alinea of each chapter in the docs about the modeler and the designer and you know the basic differences. Read more of those chapterd and you will be enlightened.

so the modeler lets to draw a full BPMN2.0 process, but it cannot be executed.
the designer lets only to use the grammar supported by the engine (no pools, no message flow and other things are missed).
Bascially, a process modeled inside the modeler could not be executed by the activiti engine. instead, modeling with designer should place me in a "safe" area for the execution.
am i right?
