Hi,

I've successfully installed Alfresco, but now whenever I use the 'online edit' button now I get the following infobox:

The file 'Project_Documentation.docx' could not be opened for online editing. One of the following plugins required to be installed in your browser.
    For Windows: Microsoft Office 2010
For Mac OS X: SharePoint Browser Plug-in

But sometimes is says the following:

Could not open davs://alfresco.lan/alfresco/webdav/User Homes/name.surname/test.doc

This is Microsoft Word 2010 and Windows 7, does anybody know whether I have to install something to support Sharepoint protocol or is that automatically installed by installing Microsoft Word. How can I determine whether all the correct components for Sharepoint protocol have been successfully installed on the system?

If I do not misunderstand you, Alfresco doesn't support online editing of Ms Word. You can try ACEOFFIX which is specified in MS Office files online editing, saving and reviewing. You can use it as a web component in your ECMS, things will become much easier.

That is not correct information….

To the original post:

Alfresco does support sharepoint. There are a couple of things that you can do to troubleshoot the error that you are getting.

Make sure the plugin for Firefox is installed. It should be something like Microsoft Office 2010 plugin. Also, make sure that it is enabled or allowed.

For the web dav part try this. Open word then go to file….open. In the look in bar type in the url to your alfresco install. https://fqdn.com:7070/alfresco

Lastly talk with your IT department to see who installed alfresco and ask if they also installed the sharepoint module.
