Is it technically possible to add Microsoft Word as custom content type and bring them as an option in the Create Content drop down list in Alfresco Share?

This is one of our criteria to select a DMS for our Enterprise use…

Please guide.

To be pedantic   MS word is a mime-type rather than a content type.   Content Type means something different in Alfresco.

You would normally create your content in Word and add it to alfresco over SPP or one of the other filesystem protocols.   Or drag and drop a word doc into share.

You could create a word doc on the server however that's probably not what you really want.    The point is that share is a web application but word is not.

Noted.

In fact we want to create a word file from Alfresco Share. For eg. We have a word template for our official faxes and we  intend our user to log into Alfresco share and create the document from here with the required fields like addressee and number etc  as properties of the document and save it there.

And this document should be saved in a pre-defined folder only.

Can this feature be developed  and achieved in Alfresco?

In this case I would like to present a POC with a sample doc for the approval of this project.

Please guide me with few steps to achieve this.

Already done. See http://www.slideshare.net/zaiziltd/tax-and-duty-manuals-publishing-for-revenue-commissioners. Slide 5 shows the screen show that pops that lets you select the MS Word template you want to select.

We need consultancy support in this matter to implement Alfresco as our DMS. We are in Dubai, and we would appreaciate if we could get any kind of support (on-site or remote) to achieve this feature.
