Mass Document Management

Hello all,

First, this is my initial exposure to Alfresco and I must state that this product is fabulous.

Second, here is my scenario. I am an independent consultant. I am the author of some 8,000+ xml objects. These objects are "sensitive but unclassified" and contain source code for vulnerability definitions. The object integrity and availability are of paramount importance.

I would like to mass import these documents into a "global" repository within the server. Various changes can be made to these documents as a whole. Imagine the application of a new Linux distribution release to each object . How might I alter(update) the objects, say through svn or my own perl scripts, and have the changes apply within Alfresco?

Thanks for your time.

Option 1: Web scripts. See http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Web_Scripts. Blurb from the page:
Data Web Scripts encapsulate access and modification of content/data held in the repository therefore are provided and exposed only by the Alfresco Repository server. They provide a repository interface for client applications to query, retrieve, update and perform processes typically using document formats such as XML & JSON. Out-of-the-box, Alfresco provides a series of Data Web Scripts e.g. for tagging, activities, site management…

Option 2: CIFS: You can access the Alfresco Repository either as a SMB or NFS share. Mount the repository just copy your files into Alfresco. Your perl scripts can just update your XML files like before.
