Manual Disposition - CutOff not working?

Lastest GA of Alfresco and RM.
I have a basic Series/Category with a simple one step Disposition based on an Event. So, When I click on View Details I would Click the button for Complete Event - which claims to run by the message. It should also cut off the folder by placing the red icon with the bar on it next to the folder name. Once or twice did this work this way.

Othertimes The icon never appeared and there was no valid Audit trail although the button showed the Event was submitted.

Also when the rare time it does work it Cuts Off the folder and Closes it too.

ANy THoughts?

First thing last - a cutoff of a folder by implication always closes a folder for further filing.

Completion of the event will make the folder (assuming that its a folder level disposition - somthing to check) eligible for cutoff. This is easy to see because the cutoff action becomes available on the folder. You can then cutoff the folder manually.

Cutoff is the only action which is automated by default, but the process which does this is asynchronous and runs infrequently. (Sorry can't remember the frequency so will have to check). I suspect that this is the behaviour you are seeing where sometimes the cutoff appears to happen almost straight away and other times it does not.
