Managing other web assets in WCM

Hi,

Were POC'ing a site, and need to incorporate binary assets (images, flash) and css into the WCM.  Various place suggest this is possible e.g.

http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Roadmap#Web_Content_

My question is how do you do it?  The only thing I can think of is that you somehow manage the asset in the ECM, and pass it though to the WCM but there are no examples of this.

Thanks
Richard

You can handle any asset with alfresco WCM.

Perhaps you need to specify what you into what you mean by "manage"?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.  For example, a content creator can add textual information via a web form, but how would they add a set of related images with that web form, and how does that get picked up in a deployment, get versioned, sandboxed etc.  At the moment I only have the choice to create web form text based content in the WCM.

Configure a file picker and define where / how to select assets to relate to the content being created. See: http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Configuring_XForms_Widgets#FilePicker_configuration_.28Web_Forms_only....

Ok, but doesnt that just give me a URI inside the xml content?  Say I restrict that URI to an image file the AVM, how does that image file originally get there?

The widget lets you upload an image as well. There should be a sample article.xsd in the Alfresco installation directory. If has an image widget. Will demo what is possible.
