Main differences between Community and Enterprise Edition?

Hey Folks,

i have a question. I use the Community Edition to store my documents for work.

So that works great. Also it is great that Alffresco index the Content of the documents and that i can search inside the documents.

Really great. Smiley Happy

But i have a question. Is there a FAQ entry or a sheet or something that describe the differences between the Community and the Enterprise Edition. I mean NOT Support and such things. I mean things like

User limitations.. Limitations in creating Folders or something else…

Thanks

Kind Regards

Hello,

I mean NOT Support and such things.

THAT is actually the main thing. With Enterprise, you get support and some technical support capabilities (clustering, scalability i.e. by externalizing conversions to the Transformation Server, improved runtime administration). There are no user limitations, limitations in creation folders or similar that Community has and Enterprise doesn't - they are 100 % identical in that department. The ONLY functional addition that Enterprise provides at the moment that I am aware of is Cloud Sync.

There are user level limitations that may not be visible at first, but you should be aware and should consider the enterprise edition because of them
- clustering, not available in community
- transformation server based on genuine MS technology, also
- integration into enterprise IT landscapes (RDBMS, app server), also.

These, along with great Alfresco support, are the key features of the enterprise edition.

I just remembered, I crated a Prezi on this topic some time ago as a practice on using Prezi.com Smiley Happy

http://prezi.com/kjpnq91diht9/which-alfresco-edition-to-choose/

It is a bit outdated now, since Team is no longer with us and there were changes in other editions also. I will update it when time allows, but it may be useful for you.

Hi,
I am using Alfresco-community-4.2.f, my application server is Jboss-eap-6.2 and MySql database is used.

I got installation steps for Alfresco-enterprise on net but I am using above combination, can anyone tell me this combination is correct??? because some files are missing while performing installation steps.

Kindly tell me whether this combination is correct or not??

Thank You,
Poonam L Sangle

It may work. However community is not tested on JBOSS. MySql should be O.K.

Typically there are small but annoying deployment problems with application servers other than Tomcat. For the last few Enterprise releases tomcat has been first and then other AS's follow in later service packs.

Thank you.
I have completed my installation process successfully Smiley Happy

I suggest you start a new thread. You are off topic which is the "main differences between community and enterprise"
