We're working on projects with Alfresco and the requirements are pretty much focused on extending/customizin the search capabilities. Currently, Alfresco is using the version 1.4.3 of Lucene, which has been replaced since last February by the 1.9 (and recently the 2.0, mainly for bug fixes).
The fact is that Lucene 1.9 adds some powerful searches like the regex or the span regex queries. In addition, the Lucene team claims important performance improvements in some specific queries as well as disk space usage reduction.
It is not clear to me, which version of Lucene is planned to be integrated in the 1.4 version, and if no Lucene upgrade is foreseen, what are the reasons behind this? Is there any blocking issue with moving to the latest Lucene release?
