hello everybody…im a new user in alfresco and i wanted to try the community version im using intrepid ubuntu version wanted to give it a try. i have installed alfresco in my and i think that i had a succdess installing it but when i try to log into http://localhost:8080/share and enter the admin for username and password i have a error "Fail to Log In The remote server may be unavailable or your authentication details have not been recognized." below is my alfresco log:

I've exactly the same problem in Alfresco Community Edition 3.2. most important difference, I am working on port 8088 instead of 8080 because it is already used by another Service.
The problem is with something using port 50501. If you are using 3.2 try adding the following to alfresco-global.properties:
avm.rmi.service.port=50509
If you are using a version pre 3.2 try adding the same line to repository.properties or if you are using the extensions add it to custom-repository.properties
Well i resolved it. As I wrote in my case I used a different port and it seems simply that the Windows Installer doesn't configure all files on the port I choosed during the setup instead it simply changed only the server.xml.
Now I found a list of files to check all them I configured to use also port 8088 (which choosed I myself) and I can log into share without any problem. So if you've the Same problem and your port defer fom 8080 check the following WIKI page:
