Locale mapping if language-select is false

Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding the automatic selection of language in Alfresco by the browsers language setting:
Is there a way to map incoming locales to an existing locale?

e.g. A user with a locale setting in the browser of en_AU is presented with the language selection at login, because only en_US is registered in the webclient, although the labels in en_US would be sufficient for the en_AU user. Now it would be nice to map an incoming en_AU to en_US automagically…

Has anyone done that so far?

this would be very helpful not only for English but also for mapping Spanish, German, Arabic,… locales to the one provided. Is there any possibility in Alfresco to map locales on each other? Or is it necessary to set up a proxy for the mapping?
