Linking documents to each other and associations

Hi there,

I tried to link two documents together as they are related to each other so when a user finds one of these two then he/she should be able to get to the other as well. Let's say something in the detail view that says "Related documents" and then having a list of documents that somebody has linked because being of interest if you look at the first document.

I stumbled over associations but it seems that this only applies for meta information and not for documents themselves. I was not able to find a possibility to add links to other documents. I do not mean to create a link to a document in a different folder which I consider as something completely different.

Is there any possibility to achieve this?

associations are what you need to use.

But I'm not sure how much support there is in the UI to display and use those associations.    As you have seen file/folder is one example of a "contains" association but you can define your own types of association, the issue you will have is getting those assocs to display.

Thanks, at least I know that I am right there with the associations - I wasn't sure. But I am pretty sure that there is no support at all for those in the UI (other than folder-content relationships).
