I'm very new to Alfresco (4.2.c community edition) and have only really downloaded the newest version. I want to install this module, but the directions on GitHub are not clear for a complete beginner. If it were a matter of downloading an amp file, stopping Alfresco, putting the amp file in the amps or amps-share folder, and running the apply_amps.bat, then this wouldn't be too much trouble. I've downloaded the master.zip folder, but I don't know where to put anything. I also don't see an AMP files in there.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

If you have Alfresco 4.2, just download the lates libreoffice and in the preferences enable LibreOffice's own dialogs instead of the system native dialogs.
I don't know if the module you mention allow doing something more than the already included one, but I would give the integrated libreOffice module a go before messing anything.

The reason for amps not being publically available on the github page is because you can only store source code there. So to get the module working you will need to build it using Maven according to the instructions in the readme page: http://bit.ly/19xQdTM
You will need Java 1.6 and Maven 3 to be able to build, please let me know if I can help you more on this.
