It seems like some developers might be tempted to use Activiti Designer in Eclipse, as it's suggested by the v4.1 docs http://docs.alfresco.com/4.1/tasks/wf-install-activiti-designer.html
My sense is that it's not the same thing. The plugin says that the user can build "Kickstart" forms – which seem somewhat similar to the forms in Activiti Editor… are they in fact compatible? Can forms designed in Eclipse be imported into Activiti Editor? It seems they could in Community.
I can see that there are fewer controls here than in Editor, so we should encourage development in Activiti Editor.

BPMN 2.0 processes created with the Designer can be imported in the web editor, no problem.
There is even an experimental setting that enables push/pull from the Activiti BPM Suite acting as a model repo.
It depends on your audience. I myself find the web editor easier to use, but some people will prefer to work in one environment of course.
