Keyword In Context (KWIC) Search results

Hi,

I've just run up a test installation of Alfresco 4.0 community edition. In general, the ease of installation and the power of the solution have blown my socks off. However a key decider for whether we go further is the usefulness of search results. I learn today that the feature of google we all love, full sentences in the results with search terms in bold, is called Keyword in Context (KWIC). Lucene implements KWIC as search highlighting, and the discussions on the subject go back to at least 2004. However I haven't found anything about KWIC results in Alfresco, either in the application or this forum, or on the web. Am I missing something obvious?

Thanks
Simon

5 days of no replies. Do I conclude that this doesn't interest any else? If you don't have keyword in context search results, would you like to have them? This post http://aymen-s.blogspot.fr/2011/03/implementing-search-hits-highlight-in.html?showComment=1331820046... adds the feature for Alfresco 3.4d and Lucene. I honestly thought this would be a hot topic. Just goes to show how wrong people can be 🙂

Hi Simon,

This is great feature indeed.
This is for Alfresco share only right?
Not for Explorer.

Hi Simon
Very interesting!
I’m in the same situation. I just installed Alfresco 4.0d and now googling around this topic (KWIC). It’s a requirement for the choice to implement Alfresco in our business.
I found the website Zaizi with the product: Intelligent Search. But I didn’t contact them yet.
Another functionality that would be great is the implementation of a synonym list like here: http://blog.alfrescian.com/?p=125
In this post you can find the idea of the “did you mean” feature of Apache Solr, too. Like Google.
To have all these features (configurable by user) would be a huge improvement of the search possibilities.
