Just a detail about backup / restore

Hello,

When doing a cold backup we save alf_data and DB.
More precisely we need to backup alf_data/contentstore and DB ?
because lucene indexes CAN BE restored through FULL index recovery.
Am I right saying this ?

But for security, I backup all alf_data + DB off course.

I just want to know …

Thanks

For a cold backup it's better / easier to backup everything underneath alf_data.  More specifically, alf_data/contentstore is not sufficient to successfully backup an Alfresco repository - at the very least you also need alf_data/contentstore.deleted and alf_data/audit.contentstore.  While not mandatory, backing up alf_data/lucene-indexes (if performing a cold backup) or alf_data/backup-lucene-indexes (if performing a hot backup) is also advisable, since recreating the Lucene indexes from scratch can take a rather long time if you've got a lot of content.

Cheers,
Peter

Thanks you for your answer.
But for contentstore.deleted, it is supposed to contain only orphan nodes, which means that its content is useless (not referenced anymore by the DB) and can be deleted through filesystem safely, doesn't it ?  :?:

Good point, I'm curious about that too.
Deleted content cannot be restored in any way in Alfresco, so why keeping it into the filesystem? Is it just for security reasons?

Indeed, just re-upload a file in content.deleted if you wish, just change the .bin extension to the real mime type of the document.
If critical lose, you can retrieve your document then Smiley Wink.
contentstore.deleted is simply a folder containig files on the hard disk (completely apart from alfresco) and we can safely delete its content (not the folder itself) safely whenever we want.
