Jabber Integration

Hi all,

Looked through Google and did not find anything.

Alfresco has a Presence capability but this only works with Skype and Yahoo. We have a Jabber server in the corporate network and would like to know if anyone integrated Jabber to Alfresco, if so, how?

thanks

There has been ongoing interest expressed in doing some sort of chat integration with Alfresco. For example, in this thread there is some discussion around integrating with OpenFire which is a Jabber server. Unfortunately, it is mostly people like you looking to see if anyone has already built it.

Are you looking to do simply presence awareness or are you wanting other features such as in-client chat and maybe chat archival into Alfresco?

We are also about to be a Jabber environment and are increadibly interested in this topic as well. Our interest is in having Jabber presence with the capabilities of IM and calling in Alfresco. Because our Jabber installation is tied into our phone system, each user would essentially primarily operate in Alfresco with instant access to our employees via live chat, video, and/or voice anywhere you see a contact link. I feel this would bring huge competition against Sharepoint and also drastically improve Alfresco's collaborative surface even more than it already is. You would essentially have instant video/voice communication directly from an Alfresco document, store, or team page.

If anyone has any information on this, it would be incredibly useful to hear. Thanks!
