Is 'registration' possible?

The high level aim I want to achieve is to use Alfresco as a document share between my company and our customers.  In this setup I'd find it handy that the customer "registers" themselves, where an account manager can add the newly added user to their space.

The community part of the alfresco website features a nice "register" link at the login page.  So I thought it might be feasible…

Is this something that can be implemented (through means of a plugin of some sort)?  I browsed through the wiki and searched the forums but found not indication that it's possible; unless using the jdk (in which I'm not really familiar).

The Share interface has a "registration" feature.  This could be what you are looking for.

Thanks for our reply, I must have missed that… Yet would it then be possible to restrict users from viewing eachother or certain sites?  It's not ideal that customer A sees the existence of customer B.

Each "site" has its own membership list.   So this may be what you are looking for.

The thing I have in my head is a space for each account (customer) where both internal and external members can share files.  Yet the spaces (site?) should only be visible if one is invited/subscribed to them.  Other member are not allowed to see (search?) other members.

I realized this thread is dated, but I've found no documentation or topic that answers this question.  mrogers said in his response that the Alfresco Share application has a user registration feature, but I do not see this anywhere in version 3.2.  Anyone know how to enable this?

Thanks,
-Tim

Anyone figure this out yet?  I'm in a similar situation.  I have an Alfresco site running (prototype for my company) that I want users to self-register at.  Just like Joomla or Wordpress, I want to be able to configure users roles (manager, user, etc.) so that I can have pages and dashlets that are viewable only to particular roles (groups).  I can't figure out the first step though, which is how to allow users to self-register for the site?

Down the road, when a user registers, I want also want to get an email where I can "confirm" or "reject" their registration myself before they gain access to the site.  Most other CMS' already have this feature built in, so first things first.  Hoping that Alfresco is the right tool for me.

Thanks!
